Holy shit! It’s been well over two months since I last put together an installment of “Blood Between the Panels” (or as I like to call it, “The Best Damn Horror Comics Review Column Written by Me), but I am back ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum, but since I’m all out of bubblegum I guess I’ll just review some more comics.
Now, before I really get into talking about some of the latest pieces of graphic horror fiction to cross my path, I suppose I should let …

Folks, I gotta fever and the only prescription is more cowbell! Well in this case, I at least need some more red gettin’ spread! The red band trailer for George A. Romero’s latest zombie flick Survival of the Dead has hit the web today in a maelstrom leaving limbs and body parts in its wake. It’s just too bad we didn’t get to see any of them. Apparently they were left on the cutting floor. What’s the point in releasing a red band …

Shannon is one tough cookie from Wicker Park Chicago.  She’s the newest member of the BrutalAsHell.com crew, and writer of our original column Slash & Dine, having had the oven mitts handed over to her from our former columnist, Natalie Slater.  Since January she has wasted no time diving into the column, already putting her own fresh spin on the column and of course attracting a fantastic new base of readers.  By day she works as a hair stylist …

Blood Creek (2009)
Studio: Lionsgate
Directed by: Joel Schumacher
Cast: Michael Fassbender, Dominic Purcell, Henry Cavill, Emma Booth
Review by: Marc Patterson
It sucks popping in a film that you’ve heard nothing good about. It’s already set up to fail. Such was the predicament I found myself in as I began viewing Blood Creek. It was a film that had been described as all but an epic failure on the part of Joel Schumacher, a guy who hasn’t done anything truly great since The Lost Boys era. Okay, so I liked …

Zombies, zombies, and more fuckin’ zombies. It seems we just can’t get enough of those undead. You know what I’d like to see? Zombies vs. Cannibals. Do it total Italian throwback style. A primitive tribe of headshrinking cannibals takes on a horde of zombies. Who will live? Who will survive? Who cares! Into the middle of the foray we’ll drop a troop of ultra hot American documentarians/photojournalists. A couple of blonde bombshells and a pair of hunky tour guides who’ll …

Fellow staffer Ben alerted me via Twitter to this wonderful news from The Hollywood Reporter. Talk began circulating last August about director Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Mist) working with AMC on a deal to adapt Robert Kirkman’s ongoing zombie comic book series, The Walking Dead.
A deal has been made and Darabont has been given the official greenlight from AMC to being production on his television adaptation of the series. Darabont will write, direct, and executive produce, with Anne Hurd and David Alpert also executive producing.
Fans of the series …

“Outlandish, Over-the-Top, and Non-Stop Entertainment”. Those are words from my original review of Dead Snow and words I’ll stand by.  Now finally, many months later we get to bring the zany insanity home on February 23 thanks to IFC and MPI Media Group.  That’s right. Just moments ago I got the official press release and I must admit… I’m pretty psyched for this release for a variety of reasons.  The first is that I was never able to properly catch Dead Snow in theaters. I was only able …

Thanks to the guys at Twitch, who are always privy to the best in international horror and general cinema, I discovered what is sure to be a wonderfully horrifying new zombie flick, Opstandelsen. Right now there’s not much information on the short, just a fantastically shot teaser that gives us a taste for what is slated to be a fifty minute short film, which will be completed later this year. The film is directed by Casper Haugegaard and as seen in the trailer Haugegaard has an …

Ah, 2009…we hardly knew ye.
The year is just about over, and what a great year for horror it was. We were given some great original films like Thirst, Drag Me to Hell, and Grace, plus we finally got some bona fide classics released on DVD with the likes of Let the Right One In, Martyrs, [Rec], and Trick ‘r Treat. But, for this writer, some of the best horror this year was found pressed between the pages of some damn fine comic books. This year was filled with some great writers …

Today we’re kicking off a short film fest leading up to the end of the year. Each day this week I’ll be posting either a short film for your viewing pleasure, or highlighting one that deserves some attention. Today’s entry is a short zombie film that has been floating around the net for a few months now, but one that certainly deserves a viewing if you haven’t yet checked it out. I’d like to give a shoutout to our friends at Send More Cops, for …
