News just broke late last night (at least for those of us on the East Coast) that Adam Green’s Hatchet 2 has been picked up by Dark Sky Films with the intent of turning the films into the next big horror franchise. Earlier last week our own Britt Hayes spoke to Adam during final pre-production on the film, and we’ll be bringing that interview to you in the next couple of days.
From the press release:
The movie, which has just begun shooting in LA, brings back …

Big news day for Adam Green, writer/director of the 2006 slasher film, Hatchet. In an exclusive with Shock Til You Drop, Green says he’ll be back to write and direct Hatchet 2:
“It’s finally happening,” Green enthused. “It’s going to have double the body count, and Anchor Bay is being cool enough to allow me to make the sequel I want to make.”
The first Hatchet film starred Joel Moore (Dodgeball, Grandma’s Boy, the upcoming Avatar) as a guy whose friends drag him to New Orleans on Mardi Gras to …

Sam Raimi’s return to horror releases on DVD and Blu-ray today, starring Alison Lohman and Justin Long. The story follows Christine Brown (Lohman), a loan officer who is charged with evicting a little old woman from her home; unfortunately, the little old woman is really a gypsy and curses Christine to a life of living hell. While Drag Me to Hell didn’t do too well at the box office (a victim of poor marketing and lazy theater-goers – we’re looking at you), it received high praise. Raimi’s long-awaited …

It’s time to blow out the candles and sharpen the shish-kebab spears, because the classic 1980s’ slasher favorite Happy Birthday to Me is coming to DVD, courtesy Anchor Bay Entertainment. Street date is October 13, 2009, with a pre-book date of September 10, 2009 and a festive SRP of $14.98.
This edition of the film, however, has something missing from the previous DVD release does not – the film’s haunting orchestral score, as composed by Bo Harwood and Lance Rubin, which was NOT included on the first DVD release and …

The good guys from FRAYED (a new slasher film being released in late August from Lionsgate) have just sent us a clip from their upcoming film, which they promise contains “one of the most graphic scenes depicted on film”. Graphic in what way? Violently graphic is surely what we are to assume, but it’s not really clear. What is clear is that in this clip we have a psychotic clown chasing down some kids who are camping in the woods. The clown is Kurt Baker, a now …

Five stupid college kids head out into the stupid woods for a stupid weekend of acting very stupidly. Unfortunately, they make the mistake of stopping by a dingy general store and making some stupid remarks in the presence of the deranged clerk behind the counter. If you’ve seen even one slasher film in your entire life, you can pretty much guess what happens from …

The Horror Convention Massacre is a title that screams “No Budget”.  It’s a title that boldly declares to those who might dare to view it that not only is it a no-budget horror flick shot on a wing and prayer, but that it also is likely to be a horrendous pile of …

If you’re interested in what looks like another bland slasher re-make then you can check out The House on Sorority Row’s new website, which just launched.  On the website you can watch the entire film, which is synopsized quite nicely in the trailer.  I love it when studios save me 90 minutes of my life by condensing them into 2 minutes.  And good thing too.  This looks fuckin’ wretched.
When five sorority girls inadvertently cause the murder of one of their sisters in a prank gone wrong, they agree to keep the matter to themselves and never …
