This past week several DVD release dates were announced as locked, loaded, and ready to go. Instead of giving each their own special post we figured we might as well includd into one nice little package for you all. Let’s take a look…
Blood Creek:
First up is Blood Creek, which hits DVD this Tuesday, January 19 from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Starring Dominic Purcell, Henry Cavill, and Michael Fassbender, the film directed by Joel Schumacher hasn’t gotten much positive criticism, but we can’t weigh in on …

Are you stumped on what to buy your favorite horror-loving friend/child/significant other/weird basement-dwelling extended relative? Look no further. In part one of this three part guide, we’re taking a look at collectibles, action figures, and toys. I’ll be listing these from least expensive to most expensive, ’cause I know your mom’s thrifty like that. All prices don’t have shipping included unless otherwise indicated, so if it says $10.99, it’s $10.99 plus shipping.

I absolutely love blind boxes. They’re cheap, and you never know which figure you’ll get. Perfect stocking …

Hanger (2009)
Directed by: Ryan Nicholson
Cast: Nathan Dashwood, Debbie Rochon, Dan Ellis, Wade Gibb
DVD Release Date: November 17, 2009
Reviewer: Marc Patterson
Director Ryan Nicholson has a real sharp edge to him, and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. He’s one of the most brutal filmmakers out there in the arena of independent horror, and he does not flinch or shy away from destroying any new boundaries the genre places down. When it comes to utterly sickening, repulsive, and totally vapid filmmaking – Ryan Nicholson is king. That being said, …

I’m not a huge fan of reality TV. Then again… I’m not a huge fan of television in general. Unless it’s The Office or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia I typically pass. Strange coming from a guy who runs an entertainment blog, but such as it is. Today we learned that Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs) will be taking over the reigns from James Gunn for the upcoming season of Scream Queens on VH1. Now, I’ve just about admitted that I’ve never seen this …

Paranormal Activity closed the pre-Halloween weekend taking in $22 Million at the box office, up over a horror film contender SAW VI, which slid in over the family favorite Where the Wild Things Are, by a narrow margin, finishing at $14.8 Million. This comes as a shocker to many who expected the mega-hit horror franchise of Saw to own the box office for October. That honor will go to Paranormal Activity, which continues to prove its staying power by actually making more money this weekend than …

Saw VI (2009)
Directed By: Kevin Greutert
Cast: Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Shawnee Smith, Betsy Russell
Review by: Bryce Holland

Well, it’s just about time for Halloween, kids, and you know what that means.
That’s right. Another Saw film has descended upon us.
For the past six years now, the Saw franchise has returned again and again to give movie goers a requisite helping of twisty, convoluted plots, rusty torture mechanisms, and Tobin Bell. Of course, like so many long-running franchises, the series seemed to have succumbed to the curse of diminishing …

I have to say, there’s quite a bit of news that’s been sent a long to us regarding SAW VI that we haven’t posted. We’re just not into posting every little thing about every big studio film that comes along. We’re critics, not marketers. But when this news bit came along from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures I couldn’t help but post it because as much as I tend to loathe much of this franchise, I can’t deny it’s formidable force amongst horror fans, and I …

Besides being in 3D, what else can we expect from the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre when Twisted Pictures put their spin on it? Shock Til You Drop has an exclusive with producer Mark Burg. In the conversation, Burg says, “What we’re going to do with it is bring it to 2010.” Okay, are you just remaking it, then? Burg continues, “Make it current day and come up with a new story that takes some of the basic plot points, if you will, and make it a current day …

The Saw VI Facebook fan page has released two new images from the film: one of Tobin Bell as series villain Jigsaw, and one of Peter Outerbridge, who plays William Easton, a main character in the new film. Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith will both appear in flashbacks in the new film, and according to trailers, Saw VI is more topical than previous films, revolving around members of a health insurance company. Jigsaw is apparently a proponent of health care reform. President Obama, are you listening?
I saw a …

That time is approaching – “If it’s Halloween, it’s Saw!” Yeah, it’s a cheesy gimmick, but it totally works for the franchise. Saw guarantees asses in seats every year, and I’ve been known to occasionally make an appearance. I haven’t seen the last two in the theaters, instead opting to wait for the DVD release the following January each year. It’s just such a quick turn around, and more convenient for me since everyone goes to see Saw, and the theater is often packed with unruly teenagers in …
