Frozen director Adam Green
Interview conducted by Britt Hayes – January 2010
In part one of my interview with director Adam Green, we discussed his upcoming survival suspense-drama, Frozen (in select theaters February 5th), as well as his influences for the film and his opinion on remakes. Since the interview was so long (and so epic!), we’ve decided to bring it to you in two parts.
We’ve talked about Frozen, and now it’s time to talk about his anticipated upcoming film, Hatchet 2, which recently began production:

Brutal as Hell: I can’t do an …

October has been an insane month for horror releases, for obvious reasons. There have been some great titles, and some awesome surprises, but looking at the grand scope for this month’s releases, I find myself underwhelmed. Here we are in our last week, and I think it’s the best yet:

Black Devil Doll
Holy shit.  While the artwork screams blacksploitation in the 70′s, this film came out last year. Just watch the NSFW trailer over on Youtube. Trust me, it will change your fucking life. “He’s a lover! He’s a …

We’ve got a slew of releases this week, but don’t get too excited. Some of them are a bit lackluster, to say the least.

Blood: The Last Vampire
Marc assures me that this film sucks (get it? Shoot me), but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to see it. I watched the trailer again recently (before Drag Me To Hell, I believe), and something about the cinematography – which I’ll admit is a bit predictable in style – really caught my eye. Blood is based on the anime of the …

Lionsgate is releasing a heap of films on November 24th (in time for Thanksgiving…I guess?), including special editions like My Bloody Valentine: Special Edition, Cujo: 25th Anniversary Edition, and Monster Squad: 20th Anniversary Edition, as well as genre favorite Frailty, the directorial debut of one Mr. Bill Paxton.

Frailty stars Matthew McConaughey (I miss when he did roles like this, but those RomCom paychecks are mighty tempting, so I hear), Bill Paxton, Powers Boothe, and Matt O’Leary. The film is written by Brent Hanley and follows Fenton Meeks, the …

Sam Raimi’s return to horror releases on DVD and Blu-ray today, starring Alison Lohman and Justin Long. The story follows Christine Brown (Lohman), a loan officer who is charged with evicting a little old woman from her home; unfortunately, the little old woman is really a gypsy and curses Christine to a life of living hell. While Drag Me to Hell didn’t do too well at the box office (a victim of poor marketing and lazy theater-goers – we’re looking at you), it received high praise. Raimi’s long-awaited …

Fantastic Fest: September 29, Day 6 … I think
-Kayley Viteo

Today was short and sweet. Interestingly enough, three movies has become a “short and sweet” day to me. Nonetheless, I will admit to being tired, which may explain why this blog is shorter than usual.
Rampage: I took the plunge and decided to give Uwe Boll another chance and was pleasantly surprised. Rampage is about a young man who is quietly struggling against society and planning a massacre. Although I wasn’t entirely pleased with the film, it is certainly a far …

Fantastic Fest: September 28, Day 5
-Kayley Viteo

Well. Day five started out interestingly, what with me having to refresh my browser for twenty minutes to buy my VIP badge for next year’s festival at 10AM this morning. Not sure why they go on sale so fast (this year’s fest isn’t over until Thursday), but they sold out for 2010 in under five minutes. Regular film badges are still available and if anyone is thinking of going, I want to stress that you can still get into pretty much anything you want …

Fantastic Fest: September 26, Day 3
-Kayley Viteo
My eyes feel like someone slapped me with a handful of sand. I reached my goal and saw five movies today – actually, the most I’ve ever seen in one day – and all of this occurred while running off four hours of sleep. This also happened to be the day where I had to deal with neighbors in seats that were less than spectacular viewers – ironically, the day after I praised Fantastic Fest audiences. Still, it was a good day where I …

FANTASTIC FEST: September 25, Day 2
-Kayley Viteo
Ah, reality sunk in a little today. And it kind of hurt.
This morning I woke up with a pounding migraine, completely eliminating possibility of going to my first two screenings. I eventually forced myself out, completely unwilling to miss Antichrist and Trick r Treat (which I’ve been waiting two years for). Sadly, Doghouse will be seen later this week.
One of my favorite things about Fantastic Fest is having the experience of being routinely part of great audiences. You know the kind – where everyone …
