Once in a GREAT long time I get some cool promotional piece from a current film. Last time anything really good happened was back when I got a bloody severed finger from the Alien Raiders guys. Well this time comes a piece that I have deduced with all my cunning to be from the folks behind Let Me In. Now listen… this isn’t going to sway my opinion of the film one way or the next, but it is a cute gesture and a trinket …

The vampire film is one of the most universally loved sub-genres of horror. Its appeal extends well beyond a fan base of gore loving horror hounds into the arena of casual genre fans out for a good Friday night fright. What is it about the vampire film that fascinates so many of us? The vampire is a monster steeped in mythology centuries old and throughout the ages has been explored in a variety of context. Vampires aren’t like other …

We received exciting news just earlier today that John Ajvide Lindqvist, famed author of ‘Let the Right One In’ will be seeing his newest novel published this fall, and folks… this time it’s all about zombies. (I told you it’s exciting news didn’t I?) The book is titled Handling the Undead and the story begins when, according to the publisher, “The Stockholm power grid has gone crazy. Electrical appliances turn themselves on and cannot be switched off. Then the terrible news breaks: In the morgue and in …

Initially, I wasn’t going to do a write up on this. Several writer friends of mine have already tackled the topic, including John Gholson over at HorrorSquad and Scott Weinberg at Cinematical, and it seems redundant to echo the sentiment here. That said, I’d be remiss if I didn’t attempt to valiantly defend one of my favorite horror films, and one of the best horror films of the last several years.
Is the news of a potential remake of a film (especially a horror film) shocking to anyone anymore? …

I like to think there’s a lot going on in this first official image from the Matt Reeves helmed remake of Let Me In. The blood on Abby’s chin, the cold distant look in her eyes… There’s a level of emotion present in that single shot that I hope extends throughout this highly controversial remake. Chloe Moretz has blown us all away in Kick-Ass and she’s the one shining hope that most of us are clinging to that is stopping us from spewing forth incendiary remarks …

A short but sweet bit of news for ya – Hammer Films announced today that they’re entering a partnership with Dark Horse Comics to “create a series of co-branded original graphic novels and comic books.” First on the agenda? That little movie you might have heard about called Let Me In.
From the press release:
While the storyline of the companion graphic novel is being kept under wraps, Dark Horse Comics and writer Marc Andreyko (Manhunter, Predators) are working with Hammer to create a chilling and exciting comic that will incorporate some of …

First off, I have to say one thing. I’m rather conflicted on how I want to start this post. This morning I woke up to news that Warner Bros. had secured the rights to Park Chan-wook’s Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. Not long ago (mid-November) waves of excitement overtook the internet at the news that the Spielberg helmed Oldboy remake was dead in the water. Disputes over rights, which are likely to never be settled, gave the popular Chan-wook film a stay of execution at the …

Overture films has given an official release date for Let Me In, the American remake of the Swedish film, Let the Right One In. The film will hit theaters October 1, 2010. That’s officially this year now. Just wanted to remind you, in case you’re like me and still writing ’09 on everything.
The official synopsis from Overture Films:

Welcome to the final part of our first annual holiday gift guide. I’m going to run things down a little differently in this edition. In the DVD and Blu-ray sections, I’ll start with bargains, move to regular priced items, and then to boxed sets and pricey editions (if any). For books, it’ll just be a veritable mix of comic books, novels, and the like, priced lowest to highest. Let’s get started, shall we?
