If you’re going to be at Sundance Film Fest here in the next few days you stand a chance to get a look at Gaspar Noe’s latest entry where he descends into the bowels of Japan, Enter the Void. IFC Films has just announced their acquisition for U.S. Distribution rights to Enter the Void, strengthening their reputation for bringing some of the highest quality films to American audiences. Just over the past couple of years we’ve seen IFC deliver the instantly classic Let The Right One In, and …

First off, I have to say one thing. I’m rather conflicted on how I want to start this post. This morning I woke up to news that Warner Bros. had secured the rights to Park Chan-wook’s Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. Not long ago (mid-November) waves of excitement overtook the internet at the news that the Spielberg helmed Oldboy remake was dead in the water. Disputes over rights, which are likely to never be settled, gave the popular Chan-wook film a stay of execution at the …

Welcome to the final part of our first annual holiday gift guide. I’m going to run things down a little differently in this edition. In the DVD and Blu-ray sections, I’ll start with bargains, move to regular priced items, and then to boxed sets and pricey editions (if any). For books, it’ll just be a veritable mix of comic books, novels, and the like, priced lowest to highest. Let’s get started, shall we?

I’m not a huge fan of vampire movies, books, anything; but over the last two years, you might think I was with how much I loved Let the Right One In. It seems these days if you say you enjoyed a vampire film, everyone thinks you’re some sort of vampire fan girl/boy. In conversations with friends, I often hear them say “I don’t like vampire stuff, but I …

So I got this email today from Pidde who is “slightly atttached to FilmKoncept”, regarding Mara, a new hack n’ slash film from Sweden that promises what Frostbitten and Let the Right One In lacked: hot Swedish chicks. Now Pidde makes a point. Those films did indeed lack some hot Swedish chicks, but you know what? That was probably for the better. Not that there’s anything wrong with hot Swedes. I’ll take one any day of the week. Wait… I’m married to …

Today begins lensing on yet another questionable remake. Earlier today I gave up a lengthy diatribe on why I felt a remake, or should I say, a proper remake, of I Spit on Your Grave is unmakeable. Now I sit down to a dinner consisting of a rather delicious Italian grinder and a jack-me-up energy drink only to pop open my email and see a press release announcing the official beginning of production for Let Me In.

Let the Right One In is one of the most beautiful horror films ever made. Upon viewing it for the first time, it was instantly added to my list of favorite films, and consequently, my favorite horror films. The Swedish vampire film by Tomas Alfredson is based on the novel and script by John Ajvide Lindqvist, and follows the story of Oskar, a child who is outcast at school and fantasizes of taking murderous revenge on his bullies. A little girl named Eli and her “father” move into …

These aren’t likely to be online long. So, take a look while you can. Below are three promotional posters that are reportedly being used to sell the film in international markets. The film, directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is a remaking of the stellar and highly original Norwegian vampire film LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, a film that is nearly undisputed as being the best feature of 2008.
