If you all remember correctly about a month ago we ran a contest in conjunction with Magnet Releasing for the new 80’s throwback Satanic horror flick, The House of the Devil. The contest was for us to earn the privilege to premiere the four alternative “retro styled” posters that you’ve now all seen at every horror site on the net.  You all kicked serious ass on our behalf and we won that contest in a landslide, beating bigger sites like DreadCentral.com and Fangoria.com. As a result …

Satanic Panic (2009)
Directed by: Marc Selz
DVD Release Date: October 13, 2009
Review by: Marc Patterson
It’s sad to say, as it dates me a bit, but I’m a child of the 80’s. To my credit, it was really the early 90’s that were my formative years of high school and beyond, but I very much remember the 80’s as the time when I first got turned on to the devil, and as a time when the footholds of horror took hold in my heart. Much to the chagrin of my …

We recently had the chance to talk with Ti West, director of The House of the Devil, which hits theaters this October 30th. Along with him was Jocelin Donahue, who plays the leading character of Samantha. We talked about the “Satanic Panic” scares from the 80’s, feathered hair, the much-publicized Cabin Fever 2 drama, and the upcoming film Ti is directing, The Haunting in Georgia.
Brutal As Hell: Ti, Can you tell us about your inspiration for the The House of the Devil? You …

Fantastic Fest: September 27, Day 4
-Kayley Viteo

I had to think what number of day this was, and yesterday I thought it was Friday, so everything’s starting to blend together. Today flew by in kind of a haze – I took the morning off to catch up on some sleep and, as much as I hate to admit it, and had to drag myself to my last screening of the day because I was still so tired. The two cocktails at a House of the Devil reception probably didn’t help that.

Ti West, director of The Roost and Cabin Fever 2, is bringing the 80s back – in a good way – with his latest effort, The House of the Devil. You can catch the new red band trailer on Hulu. The plot, from Magnolia Pictures:
“Sam (Donahue) is a pretty college sophomore, so desperate to earn some cash for a deposit on an apartment that she accepts a babysitting job even after she finds out there is no baby.  Mr. and Mrs. Ulman (cult actors Noonan and Woronov) are …

Damn this is one badass poster. I really, really liked the previous poster (see it here), but I think this one actually tops all one sheets I’ve seen this year.  Where do I get one for my wall?  Seriously.
THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, is a satanic thriller, directed by Ti West, set in the 1980s starring Jocelin Donahue (JT Petty’s forthcoming THE BURROWERS), indie ingénue Greta Gerwig (HANNAH TAKES THE STAIRS, BAGHEAD), Tom Noonan (SNOW ANGELS, MANHUNTER), Mary Woronov (EATING RAOUL, THE DEVIL’S REJECTS), AJ Bowen (THE …

You know what?  In spite of the fact that Cabin Fever wasn’t too original, and in spite of it being filled with stereotypical douchery, and in spite the fact that Eli Roth is a bit of a fanboy douchebag, the original Cabin Fever wasn’t wretched. Okay, sure it was.  So why would we give a shit about the sequel?  Well for one, Eli Roth has nothing to do with it.  Oh… now there’s the bonus.
So… we’ve got Ti West who has written and directed this sequel, who most recently directed …
