In what happens to be the news of the morning (or late last night if you were paying attention) Alexandre Aja’s upcoming 3-D remake of ‘Piranha’ has been pushed back to an unspecified August release date, from its original release date of April 16. While a release date getting the studio shuffle isn’t anything new, this does come with the added baggage that the Weinstein Company has been suffering from financial woes. They claim this move has nothing to do with their finances. …

News just broke late last night (at least for those of us on the East Coast) that Adam Green’s Hatchet 2 has been picked up by Dark Sky Films with the intent of turning the films into the next big horror franchise. Earlier last week our own Britt Hayes spoke to Adam during final pre-production on the film, and we’ll be bringing that interview to you in the next couple of days.
From the press release:
The movie, which has just begun shooting in LA, brings back …

Clearly Slipknot has matured a bit from their early nu-metal antics of the late 90’s. They just debuted their full video for Snuff yesterday and I must say it’s pretty impressive. Snuff, the fifth single from All Hope is Gone is a creepy and highly stylized mind-bending video with Lynchian elements sure to please both fans of the band and horror. The video features horror icons Malcolm McDowell (most recently of Halloween fame) and Ashley Laurence, who you remember from the Hellraiser films.

Bad ass bikers and zombi-esque rockabillies? The Violent Kind, You had me at hello. We just learned that The Violent Kind, the evil spawn of the ‘The Butcher Brothers’, who you may know as the director of The Hamiltons, have just got their film accepted to Sundance for a midnight screening. Right now we don’t know too much about the film other than it promises loads of nasty gore, and will likely feature a kick ass rockabilly soundtrack to complement some gut munching grindhouse style …

Welcome to the final part of our first annual holiday gift guide. I’m going to run things down a little differently in this edition. In the DVD and Blu-ray sections, I’ll start with bargains, move to regular priced items, and then to boxed sets and pricey editions (if any). For books, it’ll just be a veritable mix of comic books, novels, and the like, priced lowest to highest. Let’s get started, shall we?

Rob Zombie recently took to his Twitter to share with the public, in 140 characters or less, what he’s up to:
“Just finished doing the director’s commentary for the DVD of Halloween 2. Love the new cut. This is the real film.”
He also previously mentioned that this version is “very different” from the theatrical cut. God, I hope so. It’s no secret that I was very disappointed with H2. After being one of very few people who enjoyed Zombie’s Halloween as a whole, even though I thought it …

October has been an insane month for horror releases, for obvious reasons. There have been some great titles, and some awesome surprises, but looking at the grand scope for this month’s releases, I find myself underwhelmed. Here we are in our last week, and I think it’s the best yet:
Black Devil Doll
Holy shit. While the artwork screams blacksploitation in the 70’s, this film came out last year. Just watch the NSFW trailer over on Youtube. Trust me, it will change your fucking life. “He’s a lover! He’s a …

The Saw VI Facebook fan page has released two new images from the film: one of Tobin Bell as series villain Jigsaw, and one of Peter Outerbridge, who plays William Easton, a main character in the new film. Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith will both appear in flashbacks in the new film, and according to trailers, Saw VI is more topical than previous films, revolving around members of a health insurance company. Jigsaw is apparently a proponent of health care reform. President Obama, are you listening?
I saw a …

That time is approaching – “If it’s Halloween, it’s Saw!” Yeah, it’s a cheesy gimmick, but it totally works for the franchise. Saw guarantees asses in seats every year, and I’ve been known to occasionally make an appearance. I haven’t seen the last two in the theaters, instead opting to wait for the DVD release the following January each year. It’s just such a quick turn around, and more convenient for me since everyone goes to see Saw, and the theater is often packed with unruly teenagers in …
