After.Life (2009)
Directed by: Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo
Starring: Christina Ricci, Liam Neeson, Justin Long
Studio: Anchor Bay Films
Review by: Britt Hayes
Anna Taylor (Ricci) is experiencing something strange. She feels emotionally disconnected, especially in her relationship with Paul (Long), she gets a nosebleed in the shower, and as she’s leaving the elementary school where she serves as a teacher, the lights in the hallway start turning off as she walks by. After an argument with Paul at a nice restaurant, Anna gets into a car accident and wakes up on a slab in a funeral ...

I hope everyone has their tickets because Texas Frightmare Weekend is only a few weeks away. We’ve just gotten word that Anchor Bay will be on hand to show some footage from director Steven Monroe’s remake of I Spit On Your Grave. In addition to Monroe, stars Sarah Butler, Chad Lindberg, and Rodney Eastman will also be there to host the footage. There will be a Q & A with the director and actors after the footage.
Until then, check out the first images below from the film courtesy ...

March 15th will see the Region 2 DVD release of Not Forgotten, from Anchor Bay. Starring Simon Baker (Land of the Dead), Paz Vega (Spanglish) Clare Forlani (Mallrats), and soon-to-be genre fave Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, Let Me In), it looks to be very much in the mould of Angel Heart; a hard-boiled tale with a liberal side order of voodoo.
From the press release:
“Successful businessman Jack Bishop (Baker) lives a seemingly perfect life in a peaceful town of Del Rio, Texas with his 11-year-old daughter, Toby (Moretz), and beautiful ...

Anchor Bay has acquired Cine Tel Film’s remake of I Spit on Your Grave (aka Day of the Woman). You’d think with Anchor Bay’s acquisition we’d only get a DTV release, but that’s not so. Anchor Bay plans on releasing the film in the US, UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. The film will get a theatrical release sometime this fall, with a DVD/Blu release in early 2011 (I’m thinking they’re going for the October/January model).
The original 1978 film was written and directed by Meir Zarchi, and followed ...

Two contests in one day? What can I say… It doesn’t happen often so you’re welcome. Frozen is a film we here at BrutalAsHell.com are very excited about. I got to catch an advance look at the film just a couple nights ago and will personally attest that I spent half the film slack-jawed. It was pure insanity. Make sure to check out Britt Hayes review of the film. I joke that Britt and I are like Siskel and Ebert as we rarely ...

Right on the heels of our official review of Frozen comes news that Adam Green’s sub-zero horror flick will be getting a wide release this winter! As of this morning this was still up in the air, but thanks to that early review we were able to verify with Anchor Bay that come February 5, 2010 you’ll all be getting to enjoy this intense film in your local multiplex. And – as an added bonus you can get a look at that one-sheet again – this ...

Big news day for Adam Green, writer/director of the 2006 slasher film, Hatchet. In an exclusive with Shock Til You Drop, Green says he’ll be back to write and direct Hatchet 2:
“It’s finally happening,” Green enthused. “It’s going to have double the body count, and Anchor Bay is being cool enough to allow me to make the sequel I want to make.”
The first Hatchet film starred Joel Moore (Dodgeball, Grandma’s Boy, the upcoming Avatar) as a guy whose friends drag him to New Orleans on Mardi Gras to ...

There were several standout awards that I was very happy to see have gone to the respective recipients. First, was Alien Raiders winning the Best Direct to Video Release award. Without a doubt it was a serious contender as the film was superbly crafted by Ben Rock ...

For two seasons the television show Masters of Horror took a famed horror movie director and gave them about an hour to make a television show that resembled a more Rated R “Tales From the Crypt”. One such episode was Tobe Hooper’s Dance of the Dead. I stumbled upon this episode while trying to find the 2008 movie of the same title which George Newton (reviewed ...

What comes to mind when you hear the word “Re-Animator?” Glowing green hypos? Nerdy med students? Severed heads with acute oral fixations? All of the above? You may never have seen this film – may not even be a horror fan – but I’m willing to bet that you’ve heard of Re-Animator, the instant cult classic that splattered across the big screen in 1985.
