‘A Horrible Way to Die’ Creates An Interesting Turn of Events

by Marc Patterson
Well this is an interesting bit of news. Adam Wingard who directed the ultra low budget, but extremely high quality, Pop Skull (review here) as well as Homesick (review here), is into his latest project and this time it sounds like he has a bit more than $3,000 to work with. The project is called A Horrible Way to Die. (You just got a look at the first official production still above.)
The cast line up includes A.J. Bowen (The House of the Devil), Amy Seimetz (Wristcutters: ...

‘Harry Brown’ Sure Ain’t Horror, But It Is Damn Brutal!

by Marc Patterson
As regular readers are well aware, there are times around here when we dip our toes into water that isn’t strictly horror, but only if that territory includes some high octane brutality and violent action. After all… we are Brutal As Hell, and have that reputation to maintain. Recently I got a press release for an upcoming British film called Harry Brown, slated to hit theaters stateside on April 30th. At first I saw Michael Caine’s name, saw that it wasn’t horror and schluffed it ...

Blood Between the Panels: The Video Revolution Begins!

by Bryce Holland
Holy shit! It’s been well over two months since I last put together an installment of “Blood Between the Panels” (or as I like to call it, “The Best Damn Horror Comics Review Column Written by Me), but I am back ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum, but since I’m all out of bubblegum I guess I’ll just review some more comics.
Now, before I really get into talking about some of the latest pieces of graphic horror fiction to cross my path, I suppose I should let ...

Corey Haim Passes Away at Age 38

by Britt Hayes

Actor Corey Haim was found unresponsive in his Burbank apartment this morning as a result of a possible unintentional drug overdose. He was rushed to nearby Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. Attempts to resuscitate him failed, and he was pronounced dead at 2:15 this morning.
Haim was one half of the “two Coreys” with friend and fellow child actor, Corey Feldman. They starred together in the film that made them both famous – The Lost Boys. But before The Lost Boys, Haim got his start on the Canadian television ...

New Trailer for ‘Deadfall Trail’ Keeps Up the Intensity

by Marc Patterson
The director of Deadfall Trail was cool enough to send us a new trailer for his film, which is the latest in this year’s offering of intense backwoods horror. As opposed to the previous teaser trailers (shown here) this one gives us a guide through the wilderness in the form of a slightly underwhelming narrator. However, get past that and you have a white knuckled immersion into the madness of Deadfall Trail, to include a glimpse into that famous bloodbath scene (and we’re talking a literal ...

The Devil’s Advocate: Oscars, Horror, and Why I Disagree With Most of You

by Marc Patterson
I wasn’t going to say anything, and perhaps I still shouldn’t, but I just LOVE playing the devil’s advocate. Sunday morning I announced that I would NOT be watching the Oscars. For me the Oscars represent a certain level of Hollywood snobbery that I have generally come to detest. I make sure to hear about the good films throughout the year and watch the ones that appeal to me, and ignore the ones that don’t. However, throughout the day I slowly gave in to ...

SXSW: Holy F*&kin S#*t! ‘A Serbian Film’ Trailer: EXTREMELY NSFW

by Marc Patterson
And the award for “Holy fucking shit what the fuck did I just watch!” goes to… A Serbian Film. In about a week from now our very own Britt Hayes will be sitting in a cool theater in Austin TX at SXSW getting an up close and personal look at this film, for which I can’t even believe I’m about to say… might be too harsh for even me. Okay… well that’s a gross exaggeration. Clearly I just want you to think that I have an ...

Retro Review: My Little Eye (2004)

My Little Eye (2004)
Studio: StudioCanal
Directed By: Marc Evans
Cast: Stephen O’Reilly, Laura Regan, Jennifer Sky, Bradley Cooper
Review By: Kayley Viteo
If I could give a one-word review of a movie, this one would be stamped with my BORING stamp of absolute disapproval. And therein lies the problem with Netflix Instant. Granted, I love it, but I end up seeing movies I normally wouldn’t seek out while I’m waiting for the next DVD to arrive. I have seen a few, some would say too many, quirky documentaries (my other love) because of it, ...

DVD Review: The Donner Party

The Donner Party (2009)
Studio: First Look Pictures
Release Date: January 26, 2010
Directed By: T. J. Martin
Cast: Crispin Glover, Clayne Crawford, Mara LaFontaine, Mark Boone Junior & Catherine Black.
Review By: Annie Riordan
The working title for this movie was The Forlorn, which is actually quite a bit more accurate in describing both the plot and the general ambience depicted here. The Forlorn Hope were a group of fifteen people who chose to break off from the original Donner Party and make the 100 mile hike to Sutter’s Fort in the Sacramento Valley in ...

Slash & Dine: Phantasm’s Falafel Sphere’s of Death

by Shannon Bucaro
Now that I just woke up from my February induced sugar coma is it summer yet? I know, who asks that question in March? But I fear if I see another 15 inches of snow my head might spin and green junk may come flying out of my mouth Exorcist style. Sexy isn’t it? So yes, March, my car is up to the doors with snow and my heating bill is still wickedly way too high. For the sake of me not scaring any more children as I’m ...
