"No Easy Way Out" or "Burning Heart" will make you dig a little deeper when you need to. Goddamn Rocky IV soundtrack... "Conan the Barbarian" OST works well, too. All they play at my academy is Linkin Park or Jay Z; makes me fucking mental, which is good for padwork, not good for sparring.

I saw that Stratham workout on Chaos & Pain about a year ago. Even that nutjob thought it was tough so you're the man to adopt it. Keep it up!

Oh, right, this isn't an exercise site... uh, how about that horror anthology film? With all those young white male directors? Or that found-footage movie with all the attractive young white people?

I should "like" that comment Todd! With one more song in my playlist I'm sure to be able to run a 10K this weekend! By the way, the film geek in me couldn't resist doing this: I lost the weight and got a kick ass workout routine (extremely painful process) by following the Jason Statham routine published in Men's Health awhile back. Funny enough, my diet already was in line with what he adopted. I just filled it with a rigorous series of bodyweight workouts along with the running - a combo of distance and interval work. Still have a ways to go, but I'm about 7lbs from my target weight.

And three cheers for Ben's remarks. I've been contemplating this post since I published it, and while my feelings remain the same I actually think this will end up being a better site for it. The content that comes out of here should be of more interest and value to readers in the long haul. For the gossip and rumors there are plenty of other outlets, but here we'll stick to talking about the darker side of cinema, in whatever form that comes. And it may mean you see us eventually drop that "Horror Without Mercy" moniker to become a more all-encompassing site.

I can certainly relate to what Marc's saying here. I've been feeling pretty burnt out on horror recently, particularly when so much recent genre output is so uninspiring. And let's face it - no one just likes one genre, do they? If so, poor them. There's so much great cinema out there, old and new, of all varieties. And, as Marc says, there's also real life...!

Don't wish to wash out our dirty laundry in public - but hey, this is a somewhat confessional post - but we (i.e. the BAH staff) had discussed not long ago shifting the focus a little and no longer being a 'pure' horror site, maybe dropping the 'Horror Without Mercy' tagline. Indeed, a casual glance over a lot of our recent content shows that we have largely followed through on that; take the reviews of movies like Repo Man and Red Scorpion, all the WiP stuff. I see us more as a general cult film site leaning toward the more violent, distasteful and (for want of a better word) darker side of things.

For as long as I've been contributing to the site, I feel that Marc and I have had a kind of unspoken understanding that we're only going to post stuff if we really give a shit about it. We tried for a while to keep up with all the bigger fish, posting every news item under the sun, but that just felt futile. I'll confess to occassionally posting the odd inconsequential news item if things are quiet (I wouldn't have done my last item on the Evil Dead remake otherwise), but even so, I think it shows through if our hearts aren't in what we're writing about.

No, BAH isn't going anywhere, but it's definitely changing shape. There are plenty of places to go if you want the all the latest on-set gossip and rumours, but this is a place to come when you want to read something a bit more substantial, thoughtful and rewarding. Or at least, that's what I want the site to be.

Congratulations on the weight loss and renewed motivation. A co-worker is also trying to recruit me for Tough Mudder.

I stopped watching most TV years ago because I realized that it's a waste of time and life to watch others do things. So many better options are available.

It does sound like you're moving in the direction of handing the site over to those with more enthusiasm for the work. Don't delay the inevitable if that's the case.

Good luck. I've enjoyed visiting the site.

Ummm... Let's start by looking at the first film, which is the one I've made that comparison to. Let's take into consideration the entire set-up - a couple of party girls get stuck in the woods, find a lone house. Turns out a maniac lives inside the house and then the maniac does bad shit to the girls who stumble by. Change out a cannibalistic lunatic for a mad scientist. What's NOT the same?

How are either of the Human Centipede movies *anything* like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Seriously, I don't see any similarities at all.

"John Wayne was a fag." "THE HELL HE WAS!"

Nice review Steph. I too absolutely love this film, and words cannot express how happy I am that they've included the TV version. That's quite possibly even funnier than the original cut. (Now, if only Robocop would follow suit...)

If I remember correctly this was the very first 18-rated film I ever saw. Funny how times change, though; this was rated 18 purely based on the amount of times they said "fuck."
