Celluloid Screams reveal Brian Yuzna as 2014 Guest of Honour
By Ben Bussey
Sheffield is looking like a very good place to be this October, as the city’s annual horror festival Celluloid Screams have just revealed they will be bringing none other than esteemed producer/director Brian Yuzna to this year’s event – where he will introduce screenings of three of his best-loved movies.
Read on for the tantalising details direct from the Celluloid Screams website:
“With a career spanning almost three decades, Brian Yuzna’s significant contribution to the horror genre is undeniable. As producer he collaborated with director Stuart Gordon to bring H.P. Lovecraft’s RE-ANIMATOR and FROM BEYOND to the screen before moving into the directorial arena with the extraordinary SOCIETY.
“Brian will attend Celluloid Screams this October to discuss his varied career in horror and present rare screenings of SOCIETY, BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR and DAGON, one of the films he produced in Spain under the ‘Fantastic Factory’ banner. In addition to participating in Q&A sessions after the films, we are pleased to announce that Brian will be the president of our short film jury this year.”
Oh, and without naming names just yet, there may be someone else familiar to Brutal As Hell readers on that short film jury…
Society in particular is a film I have big love for, so the prospect of getting to see it on the big screen with the director in attendance is thrilling indeed. This news also comes hot on the heels of the announcement that the festival’s opening film will be The Editor, the new movie from Astron-6 (Manborg, Father’s Day).
Celluloid Screams takes place at Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema from Friday 24th – Sunday 26th October; weekend passes go on sale on Friday 5th September, which is also when we can expect the full line-up to be revealed.
