There must be something in the air. We’ve already seen Karen Gillan regret taking a bite out of what she thought was an apple in the trailer for Oculus – now we have (I think) Reanin Johannink in full cheerleader regalia sitting down at a school desk taking a bite of a somewhat unsanitary-looking piece of the very same fruit. Would you Adam’n'Eve it.

Lucky McKee and Chris Sivertsen’s All Cheerleaders Die (in fact a remake of their own little-seen, no-budget debut movie from years back) was probably the one movie I was most disappointed to have missed at last year’s Abertoir Festival; happily our man Tristan was there, and blessed us with a review in which he hailed the film as “destined for cultdom.”

And y’all Americans will be able to get your cult on a bit sooner than the rest of us, it seems, as our old pals Fangoria (who also premiered the poster below, in case the watermark didn’t give it away) report that RLJ/Image Entertainment will be releasing All Cheerleaders Die to VOD on 8th May, followed by a theatrical release on – when else – Friday the 13th June.

Synopsis time – assuming ‘horror movie with cheerleaders’ isn’t enough for you, somehow…

“Teenage outsider Maddy [Caitlin Stasey] is keeping some dark secrets and holding a serious grudge against the captain of the Blackfoot High football team. When Maddy joins the school’s elite and powerful cheerleading squad, she convinces her new friends to help inflict her revenge. After a late-night party goes awry, their plans take an unexpected turn for the worst and all of the girls die. A sinister, supernatural power intervenes and the girls mysteriously appear at school the next day with a killer new look…and some unusual new appetites.”
