Who or what are The Demoniacs? And how the hell is it pronounced?

De-moniacs? Demon-iacs? I dunno. But I do know I’m very curious right away, as our old pals Fangoria report that it’s set to get rolling in Rome in October with a cool looking cast, headed up by Chase Williamson, star of the bloody marvellous and (for some reason still unavailable in the UK) festival hit from last year, Don Coscarelli’s John Dies at the End. Along with them And it’s got a catchy little tagline: “Torture, death and destruction reign supreme in the ultimate castle of evil!”

Seems the film has been on the cards for some time, but only now have the stars properly aligned, or what have you. Here’s more from writer-director Brian Feeney, as quoted at Fango:

“Bai Ling is still playing the warrior witch Vida, and Mark Dacascos is interested in playing male warlock Francois… It looks like Juju Chan will be playing the Chinese flying witch Feiyan, a.k.a. Flying Swallow. Isabella Rossellini and has been approached for the role of the lead villain Euryale; and Rupert Everett has been approached for Inspector Lombardi; we’re currently in talks with several major Italian film stars for other roles. Dominique Pinon was originally cast, but he will be performing in a play during the time of shooting. And Dario Argento’s main effects man, Sergio Stivaletti, will be providing the gore for the film’s outrageous murder setpieces. An American effects artist, Jeff Farley, will be designing the animatronic creatures.”

I don’t know what it all adds up to, but I like the sound of it. Look forward to seeing how this one shapes up.
