I don’t think I need to explain why this trailer caught my attention. It’s a splatter movie with Roller Derby girls. Does anything more really need to be said…?

Pitched as “part 80s slasher homage, part supernatural ghost killer fanercise, and part roller derby glorification,”  Murderdrome is a low-budget Australian production from Strongman Pictures Entertainment and director/co-writer Daniel Armstrong, with a cast including Amber Sajben, Bianca Currie, Jake Brown, Kathryn Anderson, Cyndi Lawbreaker, Rachael Blackwood, Gerry Mahoney, Laura Soall, Tommy Hellfire, Daisy Masterman, Dayna Seville, Max Marchione, Demonique Deluxe, Pepper Minx, Mary Poppinskulls, and Genya Mik. No, I don’t know anything about any of these people, but the names alone grab you, don’t they? And did I mention it’s a roller derby horror movie? Are we not all - to borrow a phrase from my American friends - ’balls deep’ in this already?

You may have already gathered I feel this way, but boy, this looks like fun, doesn’t it? Kinda like Whip It on whippets.

Official synopsis time: Cherry Skye just wants to skate, but the vengeful ghost of a killer has plans for her soul. Trapped between the wrath of love scorned and supernatural evil, Skye races towards The MurderDrome at breakneck speed. When she gets there there’s no guarantees anyone is coming out alive.

Welcome to The MurderDrome, it’s not a game anymore…

No release details just yet, alas, but more info and photos can be found at the Murderdrome Facebook page.
