It’s the Blu-ray cover art that’s circulated around the horrorsphere faster than the Kim Kardashian sex tape. Yes, They Live is likely going to go down as one of the best looking pieces of Blu-ray artwork to appear this year. (Actually, I’d put any of the titles from Scream Factory into the mix). Well, now the news behind that art…

Scream Factory is finally giving They Live the Blu-ray release it’s so longingly deserved on November 16th. And further – if you’re one of the first 500 to pre-order, you’ll get a free 18″x24″ print of the artwork. So yeah, that’s pretty cool.

As far as signature John Carpenter scare flicks go They Live isn’t exactly his most frightening. But it is his most fun, and I haven’t met a single horror head yet who dislikes this film. Further, I don’t want to.

No final word has been issued regarding the specs or features. We do know that Scream Factory has a new interview with John Carpenter, and that the DVD version is a two-disc collector’s edition – so we’re sure to get plenty of extras – but beyond that your guess is as good as ours as to what they’ll toss into this release.

Here’s the synopsis and artwork: Horror master John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing) directs this heart-pounding thriller in which aliens are systematically gaining control of the Earth by masquerading as humans and lulling the public into submission. Humanity’s last chance lies with a lone drifter who stumbles upon a harrowing discovery — a unique pair of sunglasses that reveals the terrifying and deadly truth.

“Put ‘em on!! Put ‘em on!!” Love this movie madly. And love that in the art Mr. Piper’s ‘do is larger than his arms. Fuck perspective, man, it’s the 80s.
