New Trailer Released for ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’

by Marc Patterson
I’m not even sure what the appropriate response might be to a Tim Burton produced film called Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. All I can go with is my true feelings, and my gut instincts, which tell me this is not going to be a good film. How could it be? And further, what in the hell has happened to the vampire genre? Based on the novel of the same name, by Seth Grahame-Smith, the same guy who authored the kitschy Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies, comes this big budget atrocity. Will it at least be a fun bit of b-cinema? I don’t know, nor would I. I have no plans to watch it.
I hate to sound like a curmudgeonly old man, but this sort of over-the-top outrageous CGI fest is never really my bag. Combined with a hokey story and horribly conceived vampires that neither have the ability to strike fear, nor intimidation, into the audience this is a film that will garner two big thumbs down. I know we’ll never get back to the days of Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula and Max Schreck as Count Orlock, but for the love of god couldn’t we at least get closer to the intelligence level of Anne Rice’s Interview with a Vampire? I mean, that can’t be asking too much could it? Perhaps so…
