Liv Tyler Joins Ti West’s ‘The Side Effect’
by Marc Patterson
Where the hell have I been? And how in the hell did I miss this headline two days ago? We love Ti West news around these parts. I must be losing it.
The latest news from the town of tinsel is that Liv Tyler, who I will forever associate with Armageddon and the cheesy Aerosmith tune ‘Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’, is now slated to star in Ti West’s latest film, a sci-fi psychological horror flick, The Side Effect.
The Side Effect, which Ti West first told us about last March at SXSW, centers on a female named Catherine Rigby, to be portrayed by Tyler, who serves as a test subject for a pharmaceutical company and finds herself alone in space and pregnant. “Paranoia and hysteria reign as the truth behind conception grows more elusive and she remains stranded in space.” – (Deadline.com) West told us at SXSW that this film would “almost make a trilogy of these other two“, [House of the Devil, The Innkeepers], so we’re pretty excited to see how this film develops.
West reports to Deadline that “Although it is still somewhat of a horror film, it is much more psychological than any of my previous efforts… It was essential that I find an actress who could portray a wide range of emotion and always earn the audience’s sympathy no matter what the situation. As soon as I sat down with Liv, it was obvious she was the one.”
If you haven’t yet seen Ti West’s The Innkeepers is currently available via VOD providers and will hit theaters on February 3, 2012. As for The Side Effect, look for us to bring you more as it rolls in. (And we won’t be late next time!)
