Bad Poster Friday: ‘Tucker & Dale vs. Evil’
by M. Patterson
Here’s a case of when a good film gets some garbage treatment. I’m shocked. I thought Magnet Releasing, who has had a stellar track record with horror flicks, could do better. What happened to creating awesome posters like they did for Let the Right One In or The House of the Devil? How come this final poster has to look at something a ninth grader produced with Photoshop over a study hall period? Consider the press release copy: Tucker and Dale vs. Evil has been a hit on the festival circuit, debuting at Sundance, and winning the Midnight Audience Award at SXSW, the Jury Prize for First Feature at Fantasia, the Best Director award at Fantaspoa, and the Best Motion Picture Award at Sitges.
To paraphrase Samuel Jackson – Does this film look like a bitch? So why, Magnet, are you treating it like a bitch? Don’t make me quote Ezekiel 25 verse 17. I’ll do it.
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil premieres on Magnolia VOD on August 26th and is in select theaters on September 30th. You can read our official review here.
