They were warned… They were doomed… And on Friday the 13th, nothing will save them.
In 1980, a little boy from Camp Crystal Lake and his mother terrorized us all in what would become one of the best selling franchises in horror history, Friday the 13th. Over the next 29 years, we watched as Jason Voorhees continued to slay everyone in his path for the harm they caused him on that unlucky day. Resurrection after resurrection, Jason took pity on no one, from Crystal Lake to Manhatten, even outer space. He became an icon and made every kid want to wear a hockey mask and carry a machete. The Friday the 13th success was so great that it lead to 12 films in total (including the awesome crossover of Freddy vs. Jason), a Nintendo video game, many books & comics based on the films, and countless merchandise. Jason Voorhees truly is one of the greatest horror villains to ever meet the big screen.
This Friday the 13th, we’re bringing you some recipes that are sure to slash into any appetite.
Camp Crystal Light Drink
8 oz lemonade flavor Crystal Light
4 oz vodka
8 oz Sprite
Lemon slices (optional)
Fill 2 large glasses half-full with ice. Mix lemonade and vodka and divide between the 2 glasses. Top with sprite. Add lemon slices.
Cream butter and sugar with mixer. Add egg and vanilla and beat until combined. Mix dry ingredients in separate bowl and then add to butter mixture. Beat until a smooth dough forms. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
Preheat oven to 350. Roll out dough to about ¼ inch thick. Using a cookie cutter (if you have an oval shaped cutter), or a knife, cut out shapes resembling hockey masks. Transfer the cookies to a parchment lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are light brown. Remove and let cool.
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 large egg white
1 tsp lemon juice
Beat egg white and lemon juice with electric mixer. Add sugar and mix on low until combined and glossy. Use icing immediately or cover with plastic wrap so icing doesn’t dry out. In separate bowls, mix a small amount of the icing with red food coloring and a small amount with black food coloring.
To decorate, outline the cookies with a line of white icing and flood the entire cookie. Let icing set, then pipe on decorations with red and black icing.
