UK Horror Channel Presents Cruel Britannia Season
More news on upcoming content from Britain’s Horror Channel; they’ve got a new season coming up featuring some of the most notable British horror films of recent year. Aptly dubbed Cruel Britannia, the season will see four TV premieres on four successive Friday nights throughout April. And if that isn’t a suitable excuse to dress up Emily Booth as Lady Britannia, then I don’t know what is.
(I mean, bollocks to the Royal Wedding. Even if Kate Middleton is qute a tasty bit of stuff.)
Kicking off on April 8th with Steven Sheil’s Mum and Dad, a grimy bit of household horror which I relatively enjoyed on release (see my review here). Next up on April 15th is Gerard Johnson’s Tony: London Serial Killer, a gritty realist piece which regretfully I haven’t seen but Annie was mightily impressed by (her review here). Following on – guess what – April 22nd is Laurence Gough’s Salvage, a suburban siege story with a hint of the monstruous which I really dug (my review). Finally, on – yes, you’ve guessed – April 29th we have Simon Rumley’s The Living and The Dead, and once again you’ll find a favourable review within this site, this time from Marc (and here it is.)
Some good viewing for sure. Ladies and gentlemen, set your HDD recorders, Sky+ boxes, or video recorders if you’re old school.
