From Well Go USA, purveyor of such cult films as Hard Revenge Milly, Samurai Princess, and The Greatest American Snuff film comes the newest tale of supernatural terror in a crazy erotic J-Horror film simply titled Blood. Blood stars the Japanese sexpot Aya Sugimoto (Flower & Snake) as well as Guts Ishimatsu (Black Rain) in an erotic tale of vampirism and samurai styled battle from director Ten Shimoyama (Shinobi). The synopsis is fairly straightforward: Police Detective Hoshino (Kanji Tsuda) investigates the murder of a maid at a mansion belonging to Miyako Rozmberk (Aya Sugimoto), a seductive vampire mistress and “cougar” all in one. Ukyo Kuronuma (Jun Kaname), an Edo-era swordsman who was turned into a vampire by Miyako, is blamed for the crime, but before anything can be done about it, Hoshino ends up under Miyako’s spell as well. This leads Hoshino and Ukyo to battle one another for the privilege of staying with Miyako for eternity.

Obviously this is a film that isn’t going to resonate with a wide range of horror fans. You’re either into schlocky J-horror or you’re not. One thing I can say for Well Go is that their releases have been pretty solid. Despite the really off-putting DVD cover art, and non-descript titles, the films themselves are surprisingly entertaining. If you’re into something a bit different from the norm you’re likely to be pleased. We’ll attempt to provide our review close to the release date. Blood hits DVD and Blu-ray March 15. We’ve got the trailer below. While the trailer is without subtitles, there is really no need for them. Aya’s one line translates simply to: “For me and my body to survive time, I need lots of blood.” (and I might add… SEX.
