The Indie Beat: Casting Call: ‘Juno’ gets Bound in ‘The Sessionist’
by Marc Patterson
Just moments ago we got word from our good friend Tara Cardinal of a new interesting project she’s producing called The Sessionist. It’s described as a film “in the vein of Juno”, a rather interesting choice of comparison when it comes to the world of horror. Even more interesting as it mixes in elements of fetish sessions and dominatrix play. Hrm…
The films producers will be leading a casting call in Orlando FL, by invitation only, Dec 12-14, 2010, with production slated to begin in February 2011. From what we’re told there is already a capable cast of indie horror mainstays either on board, or in talks with the producers, to include Domiziano Archangili, Al Snow (WWE wrestler), Barry Ratcliff (Witches of Oz 3D), and of course Tara Cardinal, (Delivery, Darkness Spreads, Miami Vice).
The Official Synopsis: The Sessionist (a women who engages in private “sessions” for profit) is about a private wrestler; MC, who exists in a bubble of secrecy and discretion. Her passion is deviance, the core, the story, the idea that all people have the desire to be good, but not too good. With her unique blend of Mormon family members and archaic wrestling friends, MC’s becomes an unlikely hero that must save her brother and fellow sessionist from a sadistic diplomat and his son. Not without help and even more unexpected, the admirers that step in to help her are from both sides of the law. When good becomes bad and wrong becomes right, MC has no choice but to ask herself what that really makes her and risks destroying everything she believes in.
The film will be Executive Produced by Oscar Winner, Produced by Tara Cardinal and Directed by Jose Zambrano Cassella.
