Simon Rumley’s ‘Red, White, & Blue’ Available on VOD same Time as FantasticFest Screening!
by Marc Patterson
That’s a long headline, but you read it right. It has just been announced that Simon Rumley’s Red, White, & Blue (reviewed here) will be getting a theatrical release at the same time it screens at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX, on September 23rd. At the same time it will also premiere to select VOD providers allowing movie geeks around the US to order the film from the comfort of their couch.
During a screening at SXSW earlier this year our own Britt Hayes said the that the film “punches you right in the gut without mercy“. It’s a visceral tale of an explosive love triangle, but not in the “chick flick vein”. It’s dark and edgy material. If you’ve seen Rumley’s The Living and The Dead (review here) then you know that he makes horrifying films that are grounded in a concrete and very real world. The film stars a highly talented line-up that consists of Marc Senter, Amanda Fuller, and Noah Taylor
The film will find it’s distribution through IFC Films, which has been doing just a stellar job over the past couple of years with releasing some of the best genre film.
Red, White, & Blue was shot in, and around the Austin TX area, and of Fantastic Fest Simon Rumley comments, “FantasticFest’s a very important festival for me since it was where my last film The Living and The Dead won its first bunch of awards. Ever since I’ve have loved Austin – so much so that I went there to shoot Red White & Blue. It was a truly superb experience to be able to continue my relationship with FantasticFest in this way. Moreover, I know that screening the film through IFC, who have championed some of the most exciting films of recent years, will allow it to reach what I hope will be an appreciative and large audience.“
