‘I Spit On Your Grave’ Re-issue Banned in Ireland

This is a piece of news that effects such a small percentage of our readers. (roughly only 300 horror heads checking in from the last month – and most of those from Dublin), however all said the horror community knows no bounds, and when we see something like this we all feel a twinge of pain.
According to Scream Magazine, a new horror publication from the UK you’ll hear more about soon enough, the Irish authorities (whoever they are) have decided to ban the 2 Disc DVD re-issue of I Spit On Your Grave as the film depicts “acts of gross violence and cruelty (including mutilation and torture) towards humans.”. Listen – I don’t want to take any cheap shots against the Irish, as I’m pretty much Irish myself. American Irish, sure… but everyone knows there’s more Irish in the Boston region than there are in Ireland! (Okay – that WAS a joke… kinda), but this is rather incredulous.
To me it’s simply shocking that in this day and age censorship is still an issue in modern countries. I’m not trying to get into politics here (too late), but come the fuck on Ireland. Really? Quit squabbling over small potatoes (sorry couldn’t help myself) and concentrate on bigger issues.
