I’ve Just Got Two Words For Ya – The Evil Dead, Blu-ray
Okay – technically that was five words. But who’s counting? And really… do we need to even say anymore? Of course we do. You need details!
On August 31, Anchor Bay is releasing Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead on Blu-ray (at long last) to legions of demon possessed fans, fans like us, who will snag this up with our greedy little claws. Anchor Bay seems to know what fans want too because this isn’t just a cleaned up transfer dumped onto a disc with regurgitated special features. No, this is a two-disc limited time edition that you’re going to want to buy ASAP.
On the first disc you’ll get the feature film dressed up double time in snazzy 1080p. You’ll get to choose between two transfers. A gorgeous, designed for wide-screen 1.85 aspect ratio, but also the original “director-composed” 1.33 aspect ration, both “prepared and personally supervised” by Raimi himself. Nice. Presented with a crisp high-res Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio these demons are going to come alive and drag you to the hell right along with Ash’s friends. You want a commentary track well? Well, Raimi is delivering to us a brand new one that includes himself along with producer Robert Tapert and of course “The Chin” himself, Mr. Bruce Campbell.
Disc two is equally impressive from the sheer listing…
• One By One We Will Take You: The Untold Saga of The Evil Dead
• The Evil Dead: Treasures from the Cutting Room Floor
• The Ladies Of The Evil Dead Meet Bruce Campbell
• Book of The Dead: The Other Pages
• Discovering The Evil Dead
• Unconventional
• At The Drive-In
Bottom line: Buy this one. We’ll review it in detail, but don’t wait for the review. You don’t really need it. This is a must own. Nuff said. Click on the image above to see at full hi-res, and enjoy the video clip below that provides us a sample of Bruce Campbell’s commentary.
