FrightFest 2010: They Might Be Nasty, But They’re Just Movies…

We just had a trailer sent to us for Jake West’s (Doghouse, Razor Blade Smile) new film Video Nasties. Not much is said about the film, but the trailer shows it to be a documentary highlighting the period of time in Britain that produced a slew of films, now popularly referred to as Video Nasties. This was, in fact, the name given to them by the British government that sought to ban these films, and to my knowledge did just that for at least a short while under the Video Recording Act of 1984. For those of you interested in these gross, obscene, and depraved films then I’m sure this is one documentary not to miss.

Video Nasties will be screened at the Film4 FrightFest in London and then released as part of VIDEO NASTIES: THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE, a 3-disc box set out on Oct 11.
