‘Let the Right One In’ Author John Ajvide Lindqvist to Release New Zombie Novel

We received exciting news just earlier today that John Ajvide Lindqvist, famed author of ‘Let the Right One In’ will be seeing his newest novel published this fall, and folks… this time it’s all about zombies. (I told you it’s exciting news didn’t I?) The book is titled Handling the Undead and the story begins when, according to the publisher, “The Stockholm power grid has gone crazy. Electrical appliances turn themselves on and cannot be switched off. Then the terrible news breaks: In the morgue and in cemeteries, the recently deceased are waking up, but they are not as they were before. What do they want?“
Just as Let the Right One In turned the vampire genre on its head Handling the Undead promises it “rises to the level of family drama, piercing tragedy and social satire combined”, by “exploring what the return of the dead might really mean to those who loved them.” Good stuff, no? What can you expect? ”A grandfather alight with hope that his grandson has been returned. A husband aghast at what his adored wife has become. A widow convinced that the End of Days has arrived – and desperately hoping that her late husband isn’t back to stay!“
By the early sounds of it we can expect the same deep, emotionally charged characterizations portrayed in Let the Right One In. John Ajvide Lindqvist has an unusual and original touch with genre material and we’re excited to see the direction this novel will take.
