CHUD reports that Chris Columbus and his obviously-named production company, 1492, are producing three horror films this year. The first should come as no surprise: Adam Green (Frozen, Hatchet) is scripting Killer Pizza, described as an “action comedy about a 14-year-old who lands a summer job at Killer Pizza, which is a front for a monster-hunting organization.” Back in January I interviewed Adam Green, and when I asked him about working in other genres, he mentioned that he had a long-gestating romantic comedy in the works that had made its way to Chris Columbus and 1492. While Killer Pizza doesn’t sound like that project at all, it isn’t surprising to see Green working with Columbus to bring horror to the mainstream production company.

The second project is Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book, which will be written and directed by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Breakfast on Pluto), and the third project is Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom, written by Chris Columbus about…well, exactly what the title says.

I love the idea of all three of these projects, but Green’s sounds the most promising. Carpe Demon seems like it could be a hit in the right hands, but given Columbus’ track record as of late (ahem, I Love You, Beth Cooper), I’m not holding my breath.
