Well, it’s another week, so it’s time for another episode of Blood Between the Panels, the best damn horror comics review show on the internet hosted by me, Bryce Holland!

This week had some really interesting new books come out, plus I also take a look at a couple issues from last week. But enough with my yanking. Let’s get to some fucking comics!

This weeks reviews include:

IZombie # 1 (Vertigo) Written by Chris Roberson, Art by Mike Allred – The latest new series from Vertigo comics follows a young, savvy woman with a unique problem: She’s a zombie, and must eat at least one brain every month or she’ll revert into a shambling creature of the night. Of course, once she eats said brains, she becomes infected with their memories and must avenge the people they once belonged to before the memories will go away. A fun first issue, with an interesting premise, a great supporting cast, and kick-ass art from comics legend Mike Allred.

Hellboy in Mexico (Dark Horse Comics) Written by Mike Mignola, Art by Richard Corben – Everyone’s favorite demonic paranormal investigator is back in a new adventure that sees him in the arid heat of Mexico, where he teams recalls an adventure he once had teaming up with some Mexican luchadores to battle vampires, witches, and a demon turkey. What the fuck more could you ask for? Classic Hellboy action from two of the most amazing talents in all of comics.

Random Acts of Violence (Image Comics) Written by Jimmy Palmiotti & Justin Gray, Art by Giancarlo Caracuzzo & Paul Mounts – A standalone graphic novel that follows a couple guys that have created the newest ultraviolet comic book sensation. But one demented fan has taken their love of this new book too far and is emulating the things he’s reading. An interesting premise for a book, that just doesn’t quite deliver.

Punisher # 16 (Marvel) Written by Rick Remender, Art by Tony Moore – The first arc in this re-imagining of everyone’s favorite homicidal superhero comes to close. After suffering a gruesome death Frank Castle has been resurrected as Franken-Castle, and is teaming up some of Marvel’s classic monsters to fight a rather unusual threat. Arguably the strangest idea for a comic in a long time, but it absolutely works thanks to amazing writing of Remender, and always awesome pencils of Tony Moore.
