Interview: Brian Pulido – Comic Genius and Horror Director
Interview Conducted by Bryce Holland
To those that only like their horror when it’s served up on the silver screen, the name Brian Pulido may not mean a whole lot. But if you’ve ever ventured into the realm of horror in all it’s four-color, comic book glory, that name is synonymous with some of the best tales of terror to ever grace the format.
Pulido is the creator of some of the most revered horror comics icons of all time, with characters like Lady Death, Evil Ernie, and Smiley, the psychotic button. He’s even had the chance to tackle some of the most infamous horror film luminaries, penning stories featuring Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Leatherface, and Chucky. Recently though, he’s stepped back from spilling blood on the page and taken his first stab at spilling blood on screen with his debut feature film The Graves, one of the titles in After Dark Films recent Horrorfest 2010 lineup. I recently got the chance to talk with Mr. Pulido, and we dished about his new film, what’s next for him in comics, and some of his future fright film endeavors.
