Blood Between the Panels Episode 2: American Vampire, Crossed, Punisher MAX
Welcome back, all you lovers of horror in comic form! I’ve returned with yet another video edition of Blood Between the Panels, the internet’s very best horror/brutal comic review show produced, edited and hosted by me! In keeping with my promise to change things, I’ve added a little more visual flair to this episode. Let me know what you all think in the comments section.
Anyway, this week, I take a look at:
American Vampire # 1 (Vertigo/DC Comics) written by Scott Snyder & Stephen King, art by Rafael Albuquerque – Easily the most anticipated horror title of 2010 finally gets released and sets about on it’s mission to give blood-suckers back their teeth after the recent flood of “abstinence vampire” foolishness. Awesome nosferatu action, but would you really expect any less from Stephen King?
Punisher MAX # 5 (Marvel) written by Jason Aaron, art by Steve Dillon – The final issue in the latest arc of the “mature” adventures of everyone’s favorite homicidal, sociopathic anti-hero. We finally get to see the rise of the new and improved Kingpin, and we get a tease of another Marvel villain about to get a gritty reboot. Vicious crime-fiction loaded with bullets and blood. Check this one out.
Crossed # 9 (Avatar Press) written by Garth Ennis, art by Jacen Burrows – The ultimate issue of the sickest, darkest, most pants-shittingly violent horror series of all time has finally hit the stands. Wanna know what happens to our hapless survivors (well, the few that have made it this far)? This issue has all the answers. Garth Ennis has outdone himself on this book, and Jacen Burrows has cemented himself as the most depraved artist in comics today. And, believe me, I mean that as a total compliment.
