We got our first look at The Human Centipede during last years Fantastic Fest. Kayley Viteo called it “lovingly crafted in a sort of demented fashion”.  (read full review) I haven’t yet had the chance to see the film for myself, but from the trailer and her review I can’t think this might be a more perfect way to summarize the film. Towards the end of Kayley’s review she mentions how she would be shocked if it got any sort of theatrical release. When it was picked up by IFC films late in the year we knew it would be destined for just that. Now we have official word that The Human Centipede will be getting a limited theatrical release on April 30th. Technically speaking this puts it up against the release of Platinum Dunes remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, but really? I don’t think so. The core audiences for either films couldn’t be any more different. Those of us die hard horror geeks will see both regardless.  I highly doubt mainstream audiences will even saunter into a theater playing The Human Centipede.  Truly the name says it all.

Because this is IFC there will likely be a video on demand component to this April 30th release, but we have yet to hear, or confirm anything of this sort yet. We’ll certainly keep you up to date if we do.

The official synopsis: During a stopover in Germany in the middle of a carefree road trip through Europe, two American girls find themselves alone at night when their car breaks down in the woods. Searching for help they find only an isolated villa, whose mysterious owner, Dr Heiter, takes them in for the night. The next day they awake to find themselves in the basement, trapped in a terrifying makeshift hospital with another one of the doctor’s abductees. Dr Heiter explains to the three of them that he is retired surgeon who had specialized in separating Siamese twins. However his three “patients” are not about to be separated, but joined together in a horrific operation. He plans to be the first to connect people, one to the next, via their gastric system, and in doing so bring to life his sick lifetime fantasy: ‘the human centipede’.

While there is currently no official trailer available to share we do have the notorious “First Sequence” clip to re-share with you again:

Why is this movie going to be as gross and disturbing as it is? Simple, YOU NEVER GO ASS TO MOUTH! That and eating poop is nasty (I’m assuming that is what the girls stuck in the middle and rear are having to deal with). Am I right or what?
