Who in the hell is Tod “Kip” Williams? That’s the question undoubtedly on the mind of every horror loving fan. I make it my business to know stuff like this and even I was scrambling to find something, anything, on this guy when news broke at ParanormalMovie.com that he was chosen to helm the upcoming sequel to last years breakaway horror film.

Oren Peli made the announcement:

I have some awesome news for the fans of Paranormal Activity – director Kip Williams will join us for the next chapter of the story.

We are thrilled to have Kip working with us. He is the guy we want at the helm, because he knows exactly what we want to deliver to the fans…and I can’t wait to be a part of what he’s putting together.

I don’t want to spoil the story but I promise it’ll surprise you. Stay tuned.

So Lionsgate steals director Kevin Grutert from PA 2 using a contractual clause that puts him back in the directors seat for SAW VII, a film on which he has vocally not been too excited about directing.  The guys from PA scramble to replace him and end up with an unknown.  It’s certainly an interesting twist that will make this Octobers re-match showdown round two of SAW vs. Paranormal Activity a fun one to watch.  As far as I’m concerned, it’s a win-win for horror fans.
