Could the Sadistically Brutal Thai Horror Flick ‘Meat Grinder’ Finally Be Hitting US Shores?

Back in January of 2009 I made my first post about Meat Grinder, (see link here).  When I made that post we were early into our news reporting days and it was one of the first times I gave some real thought to posting about films that US based horror fans were likely never to see.  Why just tease when there will never be a delivery? Obviously we still do it for films we feel we can get behind and it doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to know that we enjoy getting behind just about anything graphically sadistic. Meat Grinder is just that kind of film.

The official (and incredibly boring sounding) synopsis: Buss, a widow, makes a living as a meat noodle seller. One day she finds Auttapon, a young university student looking for his friend who was shot in front of Buss’s stall. Later Auttapon approaches Buss, he always takes good care of her as she opens her painful heart to him in an intimate relationship. Meanwhile, Auttapon never knows that his missing friend was the finest raw materials in the process of his lover’s noodles recipe!

Meat Grinder has been thus far viewable through sketchy torrant styled download sites.  From the folks I talk to who have seen it they pretty much attest to the film delivering on exactly what it promises in the way of gore. Whether or not it’s actually any good is a matter that remains to be seen.  When Bloody-Disgusting made a recent post about the film my initial reaction was typical.  ”Way to join the party guys… A YEAR LATER!”  But then I had to bite my tongue.  The poster for the film was in English, and the trailer sub-titled.  Either someone had just purchased worldwide distribution rights, or some fanboy had put together a really slick looking poster.  Turns out that a distribution company by the name of PHANAKORNFILM indeed has worldwide rights to the film. I’ve put in some calls to find out more details on possible release dates, formats, etc, but have yet to hear back. Nonetheless, it seems to prove the point that even films that seem highly unlikely of ever making their way onto the television sets of thousand of horror hungry fans have a shot in the dark. Hopefully we’ll continue to hear more on this one. In the meantime, check out that trailer, as well as a handful of stills from the film.
