BBC’s ‘Day Of The Triffids’ Set To Invade Your DVD Player

Anyone with a taste for the post-apocalyptic should be interested to know that the recent BBC adaptation of Day Of The Triffids – the classic 1951 SF/horror novel from John Wyndham – is out now on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Due to my finger being far from the pulse jammed straight up my ass, I missed this when it was shown, but will be checking it out soon for review. And I must say, a cast as good as this doing a story as good as this should result in something well worth watching. Wyndham’s novel is a true classic; along with Matheson’s I Am Legend, it totally broke new ground for SF and horror and paved the way for post-apocalyptic storytelling as we now know it. If you doubt its influence, do me a favor. Pick up a copy and read the first chapter. I guarantee the words 28 Days Later will never be far from your mind.
