Tony - London Serial Killerby Marc Patterson

The official full trailer for Tony – London Serial Killer has been floating about the internet for a couple of days now. I first caught wind of this film months ago from the guys at TwitchFilm (at least I’m pretty sure it was from them.  If it wasn’t then it was Quiet Earth).  Anyway – At that time I put it down on my mental list of ‘must see’ films, but as is such the case with so many of these initial glimpses, they are quickly forgotten.

With Revolver UK dropping a full trailer on us and launching the official website, complete with five clips from the film it looks like Tony is back in the spotlight. One thing that is immediately striking about the film is how much this looks like a twisted version of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.  It’s desperately bleak, but unlike Henry, Tony is the hapless man bullied to the point of explosion whereas Henry was always the predator and man with the upper hand.

Here’s the official synopsis: The outstanding debut from Gerard Johnson, Tony has been compared to classics Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer and Taxi Driver and is one of the most important and disturbing British films of recent years. Unemployed and unemployable, Tony is a sympathetic recluse with severe social problems, an addiction to VHS action films and a horrible moustache. Occasionally he snaps and murder is the result…  Featuring a star-making lead performance from Peter Ferdinando, Tony is dark, brutal and bleakly amusing and will stay with you long after you finish watching.

Tony opens in UK theaters on February 5th and will hit the US shores direct to video on April 10.  We’ll try to get you an early review from London, but in the meantime check out the trailer below and be sure to hit up the official website, since we’re not huge fans of posting film clips.
