‘Piranha 3-D’ Production Update, Plus Improved Trailer

Apologies on being pretty late with this news considering Shock Till You Drop announced this on the 15th, but in response to the earlier reports of ‘Piranha 3-D’ being dead in the water, the filmmakers told Ryan Rotten that the movie WILL still be in 3-D, with the extra few months allowing them “to perfect and heighten both our visual effects and our 3-D.”
I’m sure I’m not the only one with a little sinking feeling in the gut and an urge to cry bullshit – much the same as any time we hear a movie has reshoots, we assume it’s in trouble. But let’s face reality, sometimes movies do need a bit more time to get things done right, and sometimes a little more time makes a lot of difference, especially where post-production is concerned; contrast, say, the detailed and fluid CGI of Avatar to the sloppy rushed job of The Mummy Returns. Ultimately, I’ve no doubt that Aja will deliver the goods in terms of terror and titilation; I’m just extra glad to know that it’s still going to be coming at us in 3-D as it should.
Myself and thousands more emotionally immature males will rest a little easier tonight.
