Two Posters for Nolan’s ‘Inception’

I kind of slacked on this one a bit, and for that I apologize. But you know how last minute Christmas shopping and gift wrapping goes. Last week, Warner Bros. premiered the first poster for Chris Nolan’s upcoming psychological thriller, Inception. Inception boasts an incredible cast (part of which seems like a Batman Begins reunion): Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, and Tom Berenger. I don’t even need a plot – Chris Nolan and all those names? I’m already on board.

The plot of Inception has remained pretty shrouded. IMDB says “A CEO-type becomes involved in a blackmailing scandal.” Sounds pretty boring, but Incontention.com has a full spoilery plot breakdown if you feel like ruining the magic. Apparently the film has something to do with DiCaprio using a machine to enter peoples’ minds and dreams. The tagline for the film is “Your mind is the scene of the crime.” It sounds a bit Matrix-y, and the posters aren’t helping that much with the blue tint they’ve been utilizing. Hopefully the dozen other posters we’re sure to get between now and then will remedy that situation. It seems folks are divided on Nolan as a director, but I love what he did with Batman (I have a Frank Miller Dark Knight tattoo on the back of my neck, so I’m somewhat biased), and I feel those films shine even for non-Batty types. Personally, I’m excited about Inception, which hits theaters and IMAX next summer.

The first poster released last week does more than just resemble Nolan’s first Dark Knight poster, and CHUD has the two posters to compare:

The second poster, released this week, is more to my liking. It feels sort of dizzying and non-specific:
