Just last month saw production wrap on a unique horror project from Uruguay entitled La Casa Muda, (The Silent House). La Casa Muda is based on a reportedly real event that took place in 1944 in an old farmhouse where two men were found brutally tortured, without their tongues. Disturbing photographs were the key to solving the bloody crime.

La Casa Muda is unique in that it was shot over four days entirely with a digital SLR camera (the Canon EOS 5D Mark II), which makes it the first Latin American film shot in this style. Reportedly this is only the second film ever recorded with a photo camera.

Film Producer Gustavo Rojo tells us that “It was four days of intense work, based on a carefully planned project, shot to shot, scene by scene.” He continues to tell us: “Another particular feature is that the story is told in a single 72-minute sequence shot, with no cuts, which makes it the first horror movie in the world being done using this particular narrative language.”

La Casa Muda is directed by Gustavo Hernandez and stars Florence Colucci, Abel Tripaldi and Gustavo Alonso. It will premiere this March, also playing to a variety of film fests.
