‘Asgardian’ writers hired to pen ‘Damn Nation’
by Bryce Holland
It looks like Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz, two of the writers of the upcoming, sure-to-be epic “Thor” from Marvel Studios, have been tapped to bring a little life to the living undead.
The duo will be penning an adaptation of “Damn Nation,” a 2005 comic book mini-series from writer Andrew Cosby and artist Jason Shawn Alexander. The series tells the story of a group of people trying to survive in a United States that has been completely overrun by “inhuman nocturnal predators” (yeah, I like ‘vampires’ better, too).
Honestly, I’m not really sure how to feel about this news. On the one hand, I didn’t particularly dig this mini-series when it first came out. The premise was pretty solid, but the execution left a lot to be desired. On the other hand, though, in the right hands this could be one of those films that helps us rise our of the cesspool that is the current “abstinence vampire” craze (wishful thinking, I know).
On the plus side, Stentz and Miller do have respectable geek cred, having worked on both J.J Abrams “Fringe” and the late “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” television show. All things considered, file this project under “things to watch out for.”
