‘Paranormal Activity’ Gets DVD and Blu-ray Release Date

Paranormal Activity will be released by Paramount Home Entertainment on December 29th. Looks like Paramount took the advice of some in releasing the film on DVD and Blu before the end of the year. Makes sense fiscally. This is where they’ll really see a surge of cash.

The PARANORMAL ACTIVITY DVD is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 televisions with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround and Spanish 5.1 Surround (theatrical version only) and English, French and Spanish subtitles.  The two-disc
Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital (theatrical version only) and English, English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.  Special features include:

o   Unrated version with alternate ending not seen in theaters

o   Digital copy of theatrical version (Blu-ray only)

Street Date:              December 29, 2009

S.R.P.:                         $29.99 U.S (DVD)

$40.99 U.S. (Blu-ray)

Runtime:        86 minutes

U.S. Rating:                R for language

If you’re like me, you may need to do a double-take on the above listed prices. Don’t worry, you aren’t hallucinating – those are the fucking prices in the press release. $29.99 isn’t so shocking for a DVD, especially in these times, but $40.99 for a Blu-ray disc? Does it clean my house and have sex with my boyfriend? Come. On.

Sadly, I’ll probably throw out the $40.99 to get the Blu-ray because I am a shameless consumer whore.

I went to high school with that chick and I’m not paying 30 bucks for that DVD. And I’m too poor and lame to have a Blu-ray player. And at those prices? I’ll stay too poor and lame.

Fuckin $40 for a Blu-ray? Screw that. Count me out, big time. I don’t care how much of a horror geek I am there’s no way I’ll pay that. Fuckin’ Paramount has made bank with this film and they now have to rape fans with an MRP of $40? Way to treat the fans who made this movie what it is. They should be handing these bitches out with a handwritten thank you card for collectively handing them the highest grossing film in the studio’s history.

I agree. I’ll probably buy it as it’s the only option for buying it, but considering the unknown status of everyone involved (save for Katie Featherston, who me and Team Hurricane went to high school with), they should be more appreciative.
