The first version of Spit was ground-breaking considering the infantile nature of the puritanical American public. My only bitch with it is there was no penetration shown. What are we, a bunch of children who have to be protected by the censors from what we all know is our darker natures. The whole history of the human race is steeped in violence, real violence–not cinematic violence. Yet we are supposed to cringe at the make believe kind? What hypocrisy! The revenge sequences were gratuitous–put in, no doubt, to ameliorate the rape scenes giving the film makers and the audience an out for making and enjoying the movie. A better version of the movie would leave them out. We humans have a dark side. Don’t get all wimpy and apologize for having it. If you are one who believes in a divine being, then ask it why we do. But don’t expect an answer.

Are there NO original ideas left in Hollywood? Yet another film that has no need to be remade. Let the original film stand.
