Dahmer vs. Gacy Brings out the Best in Horror
by Marc Patterson
I’m not going to make any allusions to the idea that horror is in any way highbrow cinema. Horror is, and has always been, some sort of red-headed bastard child of cinema. It has been inseparably linked to the porn industry in terms of respectability and you know… for the most part, deservedly so. I’m not being a cinema snob. I’m just sayin’. I’m not ashamed of our beloved genre, but sometimes when I see stuff like this I really have to take a step back and do some serious self-introspection.
Dahmer vs. Gacy is a mindless romp through the lowest drecks of low budget horror filmmaking. I’m talking beneath the sewers low. I’m not even sure it looks fun, which it undoubtedly is meant to be. The film, by Ford Austin, follows a government experiment gone wrong. (What an original set up there). The US Government has cloned the most infamous serial killers of our time to be used for battle, presumably. What’s shocking to me is that Austin managed to get an incredible lineup of horror actors and actresses including the always sexy Brooke Lewis, Randal Malone, Lee Perkins (remember Katiebird?), Irwin Keyes, Steven – I drummed for Guns N’ Roses – Adler, and others.
You can check out the trailer below. I’d garner to say that it’s the best part of the film. Let us know what you think.
Thanks to Brooke Lewis for sending us the lowdown dirty on this one.
