New ‘Crow’ Script Ready to Go

According to Mania, a new Crow script has been turned in to Relativity Media and they’re ready to start casting. Blade director Stephen Norrington penned the script.

This new version of The Crow will not be a straight remake, but more of a “reboot” (still, it’s a “re” something). Norrington has previously stated, “Whereas Proyas’ original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style.” If this involves a handheld shaky cam and Matrix slow-mo, count me out. It’s hard to take this remake/reboot seriously, as the original has grown to have such a stigma attached to it. Not that I don’t believe they’ll make the film, but I just don’t think it’ll come out as serious as they’d like.

Norrington also says that this story will not focus on Eric, the character in Proyas’ original version made popular by Brandon Lee, but a new character. So it’s the same formula, but with new characters. Isn’t that a sequel?
