I would just like to take a moment to cry malarkey. The UK vampire comedy Lesbian Vampire Killers has been renamed to simply Vampire Killers. Folks, the film is called Lesbian Vampire Killers. It references to killing lesbian vampires, and yes… they’re really lesbian vampires. Now all political correctness tossed out the window, (because any semblance of that was lost ages ago) what in the hell would prime Genius/Weinstein Co to do this? Better opportunity for more sales? Because a flaccid title like Vampire Killers is going to generate more sales? Though, I’m sure that’s got something to do with it. It’s not like it changes the content of the film. I mean, for christsake, there’s actually a line in the film where the lead vampire calls herself a “lesbian vampire”. I suppose maybe this might be edited out? Hrmm… something is amuk here. Anyway… the news is pretty inconsequental. And please, I know that we have the tendency to be slightly sexist around here, but we’re not trying to be insensitive to the gay community in the least bit. It’s just that obviously tossing “lesbian” around has never been a problem for Jess Franco. This is what the film is, and what it is about. So what gives?
