Screamfest 2009 Line Up Unveiled

The Screamfest official website has released the full 2009 line up. The film festival is taking place at Grauman’s Chinese Theater at 6925 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles from October 16th to the 25th.

A few films on the list immediately grab my attention. The Human Centipede focuses on a famous Siamese twin surgeon and his bizarre idea to remove the knee caps of people, and connect them ass to mouth. Yes, ass to mouth, for crying out loud. The pictures I’ve seen so far have given me nightmares, and I’m not exaggerating. The picture on the left speaks volumes, I think. Good luck getting that image out of your head.
Also of note is The House of the Devil, for which Brutal as Hell, with thanks to you, our loyal readers, won the Magnet Releasing and Magnolia Pictures Twitter contest. We’ll be premiering those posters over the next four weeks leading up to the release.
I’m also slightly interested in The Fourth Kind, although I wish they’d done better marketing. If you do a Google search
of Nome, Alaska and abductions, you won’t find anything of substance. At least The Blair Witch folks tried to fool Americans into believing their film was honest-to-goodness footage of three people who disappeared. It doesn’t seem like the people behind The Fourth Kind, who claim their film is a mixture of real footage and fiction, are legitimately trying to fool anyone. It’s a shame, but a few moments in the trailers have really jumped out at me.
And finally, Reyjavik Whale Watching Massacre looks like a kick ass little horror thriller, taking an interesting turn by placing the action on a fucking BOAT, with a supporting turn from Leatherface, Gunnar Hansen.
