Paranormal Activity – The Film of the Year, Decade Perhaps?

Last night Paranormal Activity premiered in limited theaters across the country, for free. The reaction? Explosive. According to Bloody-Disgusting.com over 4,500 people showed up to their LA Screening, and Paramount opened up two additional theaters to accommodate the insane fan turnout. We haven’t heard from Dread Central over the response to their hosted Boston showing, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least to hear a similar tale being told.

What are people saying? Our own Kayley Viteo was on hand at the opening night of Fantastic Fest for the Austin premiere and reported back late last night: “Paranormal Activity: Startlingly good. This is not The Blair Witch Project. We are not led to believe this is real footage. Yet, this film feels way more real than any moment of The Blair Witch Project. And THAT is why it is so damn great.” She continues to say, “I’ll be honest, this one left me feeling rather unnerved, which is quite rare for me. Everyone in the theater sat quietly for a few moments when the screen went dark and when it stayed dark, I swear nervous laughter erupted everywhere. As Scott Weinberg tweeted later – it played the theater like a maestro.”

We’ll be bringing you our full review in the next day or two. In the meantime make sure to “Demand It” and check out our theater listing for up to date info on where it is playing near you.
