Nightmare on Elm Street Feature Doc on the Way
by Britt Hayes
Just like Friday the 13th had its own documentary release this past year with His Name Was Jason, A Nightmare on Elm Street is getting its own feature documentary titled Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy. Dread Central has the scoop, as their own Andrew Kasch co-created the doc.
Never Sleep Again will be released in 2010. Filming began on August 22nd with His Name Was Jason director Daniel Farrands. Included in the two disc set: four hours of extras, the I Am Nancy documentary produced, written, and directed by Heather Langenkamp. In addition to the I Am Nancy documentary included in the set, Never Sleep Again stars and is narrated by Langenkamp.
A Nightmare on Elm Street told the story of child killer Freddy Krueger, who, after being burned to death by the townspeople, goes after their children in their sleep. Legend has it that Freddy is the bastard son of a hundred maniacs. The remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, starring Watchmen’s Jackie Earle Haley as the infamous boogeyman, and directed by first-time feature director Samuel Bayer (Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video) is being released in theaters on April 30th, 2010.
