The Sick and Twisted Horror of Joanna Angel is the softcore/edited version of two previously released films featuring alt punk porn star Joanna Angel: The XXXorcist, and Re-Penetrator. Both have been packaged into one nice, neat, and nasty DVD for our viewing pleasure. Having seen both previously in their original versions I couldn’t wait to dive into this disc and see what the toned down version had to offer.
The XXXorcist is the main feature of the DVD and is a clear parody of The Exorcist, featuring Joanna Angel as Regan McFeel, who upon her 18th birthday becomes possessed by a demon. Enter Father Merkin (Tommy Pistol), who fails with his attempts to exorcise the demon by standard methods, and has no choice by to resort to a more extreme ritual: The Sexorcism. Oh my! As you can well imagine, there is a copious amount of repulsive green stomach bile spewed forth, and over the top ridiculous sex.
Re-Penetrator is a highly laughable and gross re-imagining of the classic Lovecraft horror film Re-Animator. While it clocks in at just over 6 minutes, it churns out plenty of blood, guts, and totally off the wall sex! The film also won the 2006 AVN award for most outrageous sex scene. It doesn’t take a mad scientist to figure out why. Intestines, blood, and boobs. One hellava combination if you ask me.
You’re certainly not going to get your rocks off from either of these films, and certainly I don’t believe for a second that they were made with that intent. In their cut versions here all the penetration shots have been removed to make the films more palatable to a mainstream audience. However, I’m not so sure it works. Part of what made these films so laughable and fun were the hardcore elements. Graphic sex combined with campy parody made one heck of a great combination. You can’t help feeling the films just lost a leg in the slice and dice booth.
Despite the edited versions of both films The Sick and Twisted Horror of Joanna Angel remains hilarious alt porn that pushes the boundaries of nearly every facet of either genre. It’s a DVD you won’t forget seeing anytime soon and makes a great party DVD to put on for the gross out gag factor and laughs that will inevitably ensue. Our official recommendation would be to grab the uncut versions of both films, but for a single disc combined package, this isn’t that bad.
