If you’ve read our review of The Horror Convention Massacre you pretty much know that it is hands down one of the best no-budget films to have had the privilege of hitting our pages. It’s a fun party film that’s packed front to back with loads of action, gore, and copious amounts of tits and ass. Part Two of The Horror Convention Massacre packs in even more balls to the wall gore, boobs, and bloody fuckin’ carnage. Not only that but it comes with drinking rules, and even more extras. As a forewarning… If you choose to play by the drinking rules you better have one hell of a high tolerance to alcohol or else you’ll be lying flat on your back in the first five minutes and Hot Carl’s brother Jimmy will be snorting lines off your chest. It won’t be pretty. Though it will be funny for the rest of us to watch.
The second film starts right on the heels of the first with the transition from the first to the second film near seamless. From the outset it would appear as though the two films were actually shot back to back. But indeed that wasn’t the case. In fact they were shot at the same location, at the same horror convention (Cinema Wasteland in Ohio), but were shot a year apart. You’ll want to check out our review of the part one before we get into the compare/contrast, but either film can effectively be watched on their own as standalone films.
In part two director Joe Ostrica takes more chances by completing the shooting in a tighter schedule, adding some spiffy editing tricks, and reportedly not using any actual script for the actors to go by. This is impressive when you watch the off the cuff ad-libbing between actors Bryan Jalovec (Aaron) and his boss, played by Ted Wodoslawsky. It’s quick snappy dialogue you wouldn’t expect from most films that actually sport a budget. The downside is that there is even less plot in part two than in the original, and if you watched the original you’ll know that the plot was about as scanty as the clothing on most of the chicks. Not that this is a bad thing. The point isn’t to present a wonderfully engaging story, rather to engross the audience in splatterific fun.
Within short order the second film takes on a decidedly darker tone with the violence, as our killer, portrayed by the always entertaining Theo Kurg, kicks up the pace on his killing spree. There’s a lot more blood and a bit more brooding. Ostrica maintains the level of creativity in the murder-set-pieces, which is a delight for gorehounds like myself. There’s even an unexpected offing that occurs, but we don’t want to ruin any fun by divulging any secrets. In spite of the more sadistic tone the film retains the uproarious chaos of a Girls Gone Wild shoot amply supplying even more boobs, and more crazy tattooed horror chicks gone wild. Adding to the lineup is Natasha Talonz, who portrays a porn star looking to sell some product at the show. She contributes her busty cleavage to the exploitation factor, which again just amps up the “more” factor promised. All this again fueled by a crazy punk rock/psychobilly soundtrack that rages like a crack whore driving at 120 MPH.
For those of you who haven’t caught wind of these films you should plainly be fucking ashamed. Both films make for the perfect backdrop for a party. Without a doubt they are automatic cult classics. They’re sick, depraved, and a fuckin’ wild good time. You’ll want to slam back a whole six pack of the cheapest PBR you can find, and we recommend you do. If you don’t, then in the words of Hot Carl, “I’m going to snort that, jack off on you, and then call my mother”.
